With a design that combines the best of a traditional bus and a private car, the Microbus is a highly innovative new concept in local transportation. The whole vehicle is based around a vertical frame with a suspended structure. Small in size (16½ feet long, 6½ feet wide, 9¼ feet high), the vehicle is accessible through a 4½ foot wide side door and a 3 foot wide rear ramp. It has a very low and fully flat floor, allowing easy access for people with limited mobility.
The adjustable interior enables changes in configuration in only a few minutes. Depending on the layout chosen, the Microbus can transport 22 passengers with 8 seated and one wheelchair user, or 20 passengers with 9 seated, or alternatively 3 wheelchair users.
Another novelty of the Microbus design is its use of a hybrid diesel-electric engine. The Microbus receives its power supply via a diesel generator in its roof, which supplies power to an electric motor positioned near the front driving wheels under the floor.
The vehicle can be fitted with modern multimedia equipment. Information screens inside the microbus can inform passengers in real time about their route as well as the waiting time. The driver's station can also offer new features for the driver thanks to specially designed multimedia equipment.
