Chapter 2.12 FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION
2.12.075 Alarm users and alarm user permits.
(a) An alarm user shall:
(1) Maintain the premises and fire alarm system in a manner
that will minimize or eliminate false alarms;
(2) Review all alarm system operating instructions, including
those for verification of an alarm;
(3) Notify the alarm system monitoring company of a false
alarm activation as soon as the user is aware of the false alarm;
(4) Not manually activate an alarm except when needing an
immediate fire department response to an emergency; and
(5) Obtain all required permits under city
ordinance.
(b) All alarm users shall be required to obtain an alarm user
permit from the Travelers Rest police department. The information contained in
the permit will ensure an appropriate and immediate fire department response
when summoned, any violations accurately billed and proper notification sent
out. The alarm user permit shall be effective so long as the permittee remains
at the address that is the subject of the permit. The cost of the alarm user
permit shall be ten dollars.
(c) Any alarm system user who operates an alarm system
without a permit shall be penalized by a fine of one hundred fifty dollars for
each offense.
(d) In the event that an alarm user changes addresses, the
information on the alarm user permit must be updated within thirty days. After
thirty days no response will be afforded to alarm users that have failed to
comply with the permit update requirements of this section. (Ord. O-15-04
