The Travelers Rest city council is enacting the ordinance codified in this article to encourage fire alarm users and alarm system monitoring companies to maintain the operational effectiveness of the alarm system in order to reduce unnecessary fire department responses to false alarms. The council finds that false alarms are not only a public nuisance but also a threat to public safety by unnecessary emergency response of fire apparatus. (Ord. O-15-04 (part), 2004)
