The fire chief shall be the department head of the fire department. His appointment, termination and supervision shall be by the city administrator. The fire chief shall be responsible for management of all fire department policies and supervision of all fire department personnel in inspecting for fire safety, responding to fires, such first responder/emergency medical technician duties as may from time to time be established for the fire department, and all other aspects of fire prevention and fire protection responsibilities otherwise exercised by the fire department.
