Open for Business
Travelers Rest is a rapidly growing, scenic community located in Greenville County, one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the Southeast. The area is traversed by two U.S. highways that are major routes for travelers from the Upstate of South Carolina to the mountain communities of North Carolina. Because of its current growth and great location, Travelers Rest’s business climate is perfect for small businesses and major retailers alike. A Wal-Mart Supercenter opened in January 2006, and new shops and restaurants are being developed, while local and national builders are filling the demand for new homes throughout the city.
To preserve the small town charm of this community while accommodating the growth, city leaders are embarking on an ambitious downtown revitalization project that will promote redevelopment. The plan includes relocation of utilities, installation of decorative street lighting and trees, public parking, development of a hiking/biking trail linking to Furman University and downtown Greenville, and pedestrian enhancements to encourage visitors to stop and stroll. Travelers Rest offers something for everyone and is, now more than ever, open for business.
