Bicentenial 1808 - 2008
Just how old did you say you are?
They say a lady never tells her age, but in this case everyone in town is proudly talking about it. In 2008 Travelers Rest turned 200 years old. Come join us for the many activities planned to celebrate our Bicentennial, including a bicentennial festival, 5K run, and many other happenings.
We're particularly excited about the Hometown History and Heroes series scheduled throughout the year at the Sargent Branch Library. These sessions will feature the history of Travelers Rest with interesting stories of our founding from local historians who have published books, participated in Confederate re-enactments, and even built an authentic Indian teepee.
We will also hear from renowned local townspeople who have gained recognition, including an international motorcycle champion, a philanthropist, and a reality TV star, among others.
Be sure to keep your eye on our Community Calendar for events scheduled throughout the year.
